Just got back from JCrete® 2026, an invitation-only Java unconference in Crete, Greece. 💯 I was impressed by how well the unconference format actually works! A morning marketplace (propose topics, pitch in 20 seconds, vote) and the agenda just happens! No pre-planned talks. No sponsors. Just real conversations about things people care about.

The rooms were full of Java Champions, core JVM contributors, framework authors, book writers and JUG leaders! All approachable, all happy to share and discuss!

I had the chance to present "Code Reading & JFlattener" where we discussed about why reading code is now harder than writing it, and what we can do about it.

What makes JCrete special goes beyond the sessions. It's the relaxed pace, the activities (cycling, diving, hiking) the excursions to beaches, wineries, and breweries, and the fact that families are welcome too.

Overall, I met incredible people, learned a lot, got ideas I didn't expect, and came back more motivated than ever! 💡
